MYOBRACE

MYOBRACE

A large number of us might want straighter teeth and an enhanced smile however essentially we are on edge about a portion of the more conventional orthodontic arrangements that are not appropriate for us. Regardless of whether for social or expert reasons or because of individual inclination. At our office in Sandgate, Queensland, we regularly have many patients who visit us seeking for orthodontic treatments. Many may even have had dental braces, however, their teeth have swarmed up once more.

Some people of the older age had to suffer through badly formed teeth, they had the only choice of traditional orthodontic treatment in the form of dental braces which were made up of steel bands covered around individual teeth. The treatment would take more amount of time, however, the outcome of the treatment was not remarkably effective.

Nowadays with the help of new technologies, such as Myobrace, Invisalign and more. People have more options for their misaligned teeth treated to achieve beautiful healthy smiles.

More importantly with options like Myobrace, treatment can be quick and easy to address any oral health issues caused by misaligned teeth and the best part is, a patient can be more confident and happy to get a perfect smile.

About Myobrace

The Myobrace System is suitable for a wide assortment of orthodontic worries and we find most viable for patients from approximately five to ten years old, however, always the earlier we can start the better!

It is done using an arrangement of removable dental appliances (like mouthguards) which are worn for at least 1 hour everyday and overnight while sleeping. Daily use of the Myobrace combined with regular activities to improve breathing, muscle function, and tongue posture can give the results in straighter teeth and improved function, leading to the optimal facial development and a healthier smile.

Why do you need to choose Myobrace?

Myobrace treatment is a straightforward and viable method for underdeveloped jaws. Myobrace appliances are to be used one to two hours each day and while sleeping, combined with a few simple effective exercises each day. With good compliance, this may be all you need for a real change to take place

In some cases, dental braces are still an effective and great option. We will always go over all possible options during your consultations, alongside the advantages and disadvantages of each.

The Myobrace treatment Procedure

The first step is a consultation with us where our doctors will tell you all about the Myobrace treatment goals and process. If following this visit, it sounds like a pathway you think will benefit you or your child, we will organise another appointment for thorough record taking.

After our doctors have looked over all the records, we will schedule an appointment to discuss the treatment plan and give you some idea of the treatment time frames, generally we expect this to be around 2 years and obviously answer any additional questions you may have.

Once the treatment plan is accepted, we will provide you or your child with the first Myobrace appliance and will start your training and education program. To gain the best results it is essential that you or your child wear your Myobrace appliance each day, are diligent with all instructions and exercises and visit regularly to ensure that you follow each of the steps outlined for you in your treatment plan.

What is Myobrace?

Myobrace is an orthodontic treatment to help you straighten your teeth and jaw. The approach is simple and effective which does not involve wearing braces 24 hours a day however compliance with the wear and exercises is essential. The treatment addresses poor oral habits which can cause under developed jaws and crooked teeth.

How does Myobrace work?

Myobrace treatment is a no-brace approach to help straighten your teeth and jaws. The approach involves the use of myofunctional orthodontic techniques to address poor oral habits (also known as myofunctional habits) which are an underlying cause for crooked teeth and under developed jaws.

The treatment involves the use of a series of removable dental appliances, that are worn for 1-2 hours a day and during the night (while sleeping).

Is Myobrace treatment painful?

No, the treatment is not painful. During initial days there may be some amount of getting used to but later will feel quite comfortable. Our patients we have seen from as young as 5 years adapt quite quickly. Our older patients even prefer to continue wearing the appliances after treatment is finished as their sleep feels better. Dr Andrew is currently treating his 3 year old!

What is the best age to begin treatment?

The earlier the better! Dr Andrew started addressing poor myofunctional habits with his youngest at 7 days of age. His eldest started Myobrace treatment at 3 years. If poor oral habits are discovered and corrected at an earlier age, it can make the treatment easier.

Are there any side effects from Myobrace treatment?

There are no harmful side effects that have been reported with Myobrace treatment. The treatment is comfortable and effective, the movements are not aggressive. This way the treatment allows the mouth to re-align naturally with the help of soft-silicon technology.
