Dental Seasons welcomes eligible Department of Veterans’ Affairs Veteran Card holders for dental care at our Sandgate clinic.
DVA may fund clinically necessary dental treatment for eligible Veteran Card holders under its dental arrangements.
Veteran Card – All Conditions holders, commonly known as Gold Card holders, may be eligible for a broad range of clinically necessary dental services.
Veteran Card – Specific Conditions holders, commonly known as White Card holders, may receive eligible dental treatment when it relates to an accepted condition.
If you are unsure whether your Veteran Card covers the dental care you need, contact our team before your appointment and we can help check the appropriate DVA requirements.

DVA dental eligibility depends on the type of Veteran Card you hold and the treatment you require.
Veteran Card – All Conditions holders may receive dental services funded by DVA where there is an assessed clinical need and the treatment is provided within DVA arrangements.
Veteran Card – Specific Conditions holders may receive dental treatment through DVA when that treatment relates to an accepted service-related condition.
Eligibility does not mean that every dental item is automatically covered without restriction. Some services have item limits, some require prior financial approval and certain higher-cost treatments are subject to additional DVA rules.
If you are unsure what your card covers, let us know when you contact the clinic.
When booking, let our team know that you would like to use your DVA Veteran Card for dental treatment. Please have your current card details available so eligibility can be checked where required.
Your dentist will examine the relevant areas and determine what treatment is clinically appropriate. Dental X-rays or other diagnostic information may be recommended where clinically necessary.
DVA has specific dental item schedules, treatment limits and approval requirements. If prior financial authorisation is required for a particular service, this needs to be obtained before that treatment is provided.
For eligible services provided under DVA arrangements and within the applicable rules and limits, the claim is submitted to DVA rather than requiring you to claim it yourself. Where a DVA monetary limit or another restriction applies, we will explain this before affected treatment proceeds.

DVA funds a range of clinically necessary dental services for eligible Veteran Card holders.
Depending on your eligibility, clinical needs and DVA requirements, dental care may include:
• Regular dental examinations
• Professional cleaning and preventive care
• Dental X-rays where clinically required
• Fillings
• Treatment of dental injuries and conditions
• Crowns
• Dentures
• Some bridges and other restorative treatment
• Other clinically necessary dental services listed within DVA’s dental schedules
The treatment that is appropriate for you depends on your oral health and clinical findings.
Some treatments require prior financial authorisation from DVA, and restrictions or treatment limits may apply to particular items.
Explore Our Dental ServicesOften referred to as the DVA Gold Card, the Veteran Card – All Conditions can provide access to clinically necessary dental care covered under DVA arrangements.
Some dental services still have specific limits or approval requirements, so holding an All Conditions card does not mean every possible treatment is automatically unrestricted.
Often referred to as the DVA White Card, the Veteran Card – Specific Conditions funds treatment for accepted service-related conditions.
For dental services to be covered, the treatment must relate to an accepted condition.
If you are uncertain whether a dental problem is covered by your Specific Conditions card, eligibility should be confirmed before treatment is provided.
DVA has specific rules for certain higher-cost dental services.
Some treatments fall within DVA Schedule C and are subject to a Biennial Monetary Limit.
For the current period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027, DVA’s Schedule C Biennial Monetary Limit is $5,980.30.
This applies to certain higher-cost items such as some crowns and bridges.
If eligible Schedule C treatment exceeds the available monetary limit, a patient contribution may apply unless an exemption applies.
Some patients and treatment circumstances are exempt from the monetary limit, including certain accepted service-related conditions and other categories specified by DVA.
If your treatment is affected by the limit, we will explain the relevant DVA requirements before proceeding.
For eligible treatment provided under DVA arrangements and within the applicable DVA rules and limits, participating providers accept the DVA scheduled fee as payment for the service and cannot charge an additional gap fee for that DVA-funded item.
However, certain higher-cost Schedule C services are subject to DVA’s Biennial Monetary Limit.
If the applicable limit has been reached and no exemption applies, a patient contribution may be required.
We will clarify the relevant arrangements before treatment where this applies.
Not every DVA dental service can be provided immediately without approval.
DVA’s dental schedules identify treatments that require prior financial authorisation or have quantity and timing restrictions.
If the treatment recommended by your dentist requires approval, the appropriate DVA authorisation must be obtained before that treatment begins.
This is one reason it is helpful to tell us about your Veteran Card when booking rather than after treatment has already been provided.
Your Veteran Card determines how eligible treatment may be funded, but it does not determine which treatment is clinically appropriate.
At Dental Seasons, we begin by assessing your oral health and understanding what is causing the problem.
Where several treatment options are reasonable, we will explain what we can see, the advantages and limitations of the available approaches, and any relevant DVA requirements.
Where treatment from a dental specialist or another healthcare provider is more appropriate, we will explain that as well.
The aim is to make the clinical decision first and then work within the applicable DVA arrangements.
Fantastic experience at Dental Seasons Sandgate. The whole team is friendly, welcoming, and genuinely cares about their patients. Dr. Pei is gentle, attentive, and takes the time to make sure you feel comfortable. My family and I have always had a great experience and look forward to returning for many more visits.
Dr Pei San is an incredibly knowledgeable, thorough and empathetic practitioner. I also appreciate the calm care provided by Marta and Richard. Always an amazing experience and highly recommended. Ten stars 🤩
Had a great first experience at Dental Seasons, with Michael. I am an anxious patient and he made me feel really calm, gave me loads of information about my issue, took the time to listen and just a kind person. My new dentist going forward.

Yes. Dental Seasons welcomes eligible DVA Veteran Card holders for dental treatment under applicable DVA arrangements. Let our team know that you have a Veteran Card when making your appointment.
Veteran Card – All Conditions holders, commonly known as Gold Card holders, may receive clinically necessary dental services funded through DVA, subject to DVA dental schedules, treatment restrictions and approval requirements.
Veteran Card – Specific Conditions holders, commonly known as White Card holders, may receive eligible DVA dental treatment when it relates to an accepted service-related condition.
DVA advises eligible Veteran Card holders to contact a dental provider that accepts their Veteran Card to arrange an appointment. Some individual treatments may require prior DVA financial authorisation before they can be provided.
In most cases, eligible DVA-funded dental treatment is provided without the patient paying the scheduled treatment fee. Providers accepting a Veteran Card agree to accept DVA’s scheduled fee for eligible services and cannot charge an additional gap for that DVA-funded item. Certain higher-cost treatments are subject to DVA’s Biennial Monetary Limit and may involve a patient contribution if the limit is exceeded and an exemption does not apply.
For the period from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2027, DVA’s Biennial Monetary Limit for applicable Schedule C dental services is $5,980.30. The limit applies to specified higher-cost treatment and is subject to future indexation.
Some clinically necessary crowns may be funded under DVA arrangements. Certain crowns are included within Schedule C and may be subject to the Biennial Monetary Limit and other DVA requirements.
DVA may fund dentures for eligible Veteran Card holders where there is a clinical need and applicable DVA requirements are met. DVA also has specific rules regarding denture relining and replacement intervals.
If you are an eligible Veteran Card holder and need urgent dental care, call our team and let us know both what has happened and that you hold a DVA Veteran Card. Eligibility and applicable DVA requirements depend on your card and the treatment needed.
Please bring or have access to your current DVA Veteran Card details and let us know about any relevant medical conditions, medications and allergies. If you have recent dental records or imaging that may be relevant, you are also welcome to bring those with you. You can also read our patient information before your visit.

If you hold a DVA Veteran Card and would like to know whether Dental Seasons can assist with your dental care, call our Sandgate team. Let us know which Veteran Card you hold and what dental concern or appointment you need, and we can help you determine the appropriate next step.
