Not sure if your child is eligible? Our team can check their CDBS eligibility and available balance before treatment, explain what is covered, and let you know if there would be any cost before we begin.

CDBS can make essential dental care more accessible for eligible families, but working out eligibility, balances and what is covered can feel confusing. We keep the process simple. Our team can check your child’s eligibility and available benefit, explain the recommended treatment, and confirm what CDBS can cover before treatment begins.
When an eligible service is bulk billed, Dental Seasons accepts the CDBS benefit as full payment for that service. If treatment is not covered, or there is not enough CDBS benefit remaining, we will explain any fees before treatment.
CDBS does not cover orthodontic treatment, cosmetic dental treatment or dental services provided in hospital. If your child needs care outside the CDBS schedule, we will explain the options and any costs before proceeding.
Regular dental examinations can help us monitor your child’s teeth, gums, bite and dental development. CDBS can cover dental examinations and clinically necessary X-rays, subject to the program’s item and timing rules.
CDBS can cover professional cleaning and preventive services such as fissure sealants when clinically appropriate. These visits are also a good opportunity to help children build comfortable, practical brushing and oral health habits.
If decay is found, eligible fillings can be covered under CDBS. We will explain what we have found, show you the options where appropriate, and help your child understand what will happen in simple, age-appropriate language.
Depending on your child’s needs, CDBS can also cover services such as root canal treatment, extractions and some other basic dental services. Item restrictions and the available CDBS balance apply.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule is an Australian Government program that helps eligible children and teenagers access basic dental care. It can cover part or all of the cost of eligible dental services, up to the child’s available benefit cap.
A child must be aged 0 to 17 for at least one day of the calendar year, be eligible for Medicare, and either the child or their parent, carer or guardian must receive an eligible Australian Government payment at least once during that calendar year. Common eligible payments include Family Tax Benefit Part A and Parenting Payment. Services Australia determines eligibility.
The CDBS benefit cap applies over two consecutive calendar years and is indexed annually. For a new two-year benefit period that begins in 2026, the cap is up to $1,158 per eligible child. The exact amount available to your child depends on when their current benefit period began and how much has already been used.

CDBS can cover basic dental services including examinations, X-rays, cleaning, fissure sealants, fillings, root canal treatment and extractions. Some services have item or timing restrictions, so we check what is claimable before treatment where possible.
